Books We Love – Rebels of the Kasbah by Joe O’Neill
This book review was over 2 months in the making. Mom’s Lifesavers received 2 copies of Rebels of the Kasbah, one to review and the other to giveaway to one of our lucky readers. The problem: my son took my copy to review, and then my husband took it – finally I got my hands on it and just like them I fell in love with it!
The adventure series by Red Hand Adventures is unlike any story I have ever read.
Take a trip back in time to Morocco in 1912. I felt like I was right there along side 4 very unlikely friends who find themselves kidnapped and sold into slavery. These 4 children, all under the age of 13 , share their stories of life lessons, loss and tragedy creating a bond that turns them into the family many of them never had. Together they will rely on one another to survive and escape this hell they have found themselves in.
Now add a mix of pirates, the British Navy, a Chinese martial artist, an assassin and a herd of camels and you have Rebels of the Kasbah – an adventure story like no other. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys adventure, mystery and suspense.
My son, a typical 12 year old reluctant reader summarized the book for me, “Mom, this is the very best book I have ever read. I love it.”
When I asked him to tell me more about it he said, “I can’t tell you about it. I don’t want to give anything away, you have to read it!.”
So I prodded him more. His response, “The adventure never stops. There is never a dull moment. It is about good versus evil and full of suspense.”
Guess what? He was right.
I couldn’t put the book down (that is once I got it away from my husband)!
The book is available at www.redhandadventures.com as well as on:

From the website:
“When Tariq is captured from his safe life in a Tangier orphanage and sold into slavery as a camel jockey, his adventures begin.
Along with his new friends Aseem, Margaret and Fez, Tariq gets sold to the tyrant Caid Ali Tamzali—entering a dangerous world of deceit and violence.
Forced to compete in deadly camel races, and suffer the abuse of his slave master, Tariq must rely on his wits and his newfound friendships to survive.
From the corrupt slave trade of Tangier, to the wild frontier of the Moroccan desert; into the heart of ancient China, and onto the pirated seas of the Mediterranean; Rebels of the Kasbah is an exhilarating tale of adventure, daring, danger, and friendship.”
Right now there are two books in the series out, Book One Rebels of the Kasbah and Book Two Wrath of the Caid. I am ready to crack open Book Two and already looking forward to Book Three!
