My First Day with Jenny Craig

So here we are. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Today was the first day of my Jenny Craig experience.
Here I am getting on the scale for the very first time in a LONG time. I wasn’t even sure if it had batteries.
I promise to be honest with you so here it is – I ate a Snickers bar on my way to my first appointment, yes, I did. That about sums up how I am at making healthy food choices. It’s time for a change.
What If?
While driving there, I started getting a bit nervous and even a little afraid to start this process. So many what if’s, but at the same time, I choose to turn the negative what if’s to positive.
- What if I feel better?
- What if I have more energy?
- What if I actually lose weight?
- What if I like the food?
Well, I can tell you, that once I walked through the door I was welcomed and I knew I was ready to start this journey.

Getting Started
I totally felt like I was in a ‘judgement free zone’ as soon as I got there. The staff and my counselor were so happy to see me, I felt like I was with friends. I loved that I was being taken care of, so often I think as parents we are worrying about everyone else we forget to care for ourselves. Jenny Craig was going to help me make ‘me’ a priority again.

When I was asked about my weight loss goal I didn’t have a number in mind. After all, before today I didn’t even know my actual weight, just that I didn’t fit into 90% of the clothes I own. My goal, as a current size 14 is to get back into my closet full of size 10’s. Wow, that was harder than I thought to admit.
After discussing food, likes, dislikes, allergies, aversions, I was looking at a menu plan for a full 7 days. (When was the last time I knew what I was going to be eating in 24 hours let alone a week!) It was all laid out there for me and when I left, I has 2 full grocery bags of food to go with me. Wow. That was easier than I could have imagined.
About the Jenny Craig Program – Members eat 6 times a day (3 main meals with 3 snacks) and follow personally-customized programs, including nearly 100 delicious menu items, personalized menus/activity and motivational plans. Members can still eat their favorite foods, there is no need to eliminate any food groups. No counting, tracking or worrying.
I made an appointment for a week from today and had a short grocery list to pick up – not bad I thought, I think I CAN DO this.

Once all the recipes have been submitted they will be shared on the Jenny Craig Facebook page for public voting.
