Today Was Not About Me or Was It?

Today was the first day back to school for the kids and it was the first day after a long three day weekend with the family where we not only celebrated a birthday with family, we also got a new puppy. Seriously, could we have squeezed more into three days? No way.
Today was about getting the kids ready for new schools, meeting new teachers, making new friends and starting a new routine. It was about making sure they started the day with a good breakfast and a fresh attitude ready for the new school year. I was in full blown mommy mode getting everyone off to work and school, that I forgot to take care of myself – time to slow down and take a deep breath.
That’s when I realized that I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet. I haven’t missed a breakfast since I started the Jenny Craig program and I wasn’t going to start skipping meals today. Eating regularly has made such a difference in my habits. I’m not snacking and I’m fueling my body with the food it needs to keep my energy going all day. I took a moment to collect myself and make myself my Jenny Craig breakfast – it was incredible, blueberry pancakes, veggie sausage and fresh fruit.

The day had started out all about the family and then I had my #JennyCraigMoment.
I took sometime out of the day for myself, to eat a healthy breakfast and enjoy it. That’s right, I was able to sit and enjoy my breakfast, not from a drive through or skipping it all together but a balanced meal that was going to fuel me.
After breakfast, I headed to my local Jenny Craig location to check-in and weigh-in. I was nervous, the first week I had lost 3.4 pounds* and wondered what this week would have in store for me. As soon as I walked through the door though I wasn’t nervous anymore, I felt welcome and was greeted right away by my counselor Denise. Then it hit me. Today WAS about me.
I was making choices to eat healthier, not skip meals (or replace them with a candy bar and soda) and walk more. I was here for my Jenny Craig appointment and while here, it was ALL about me. Denise wanted to know how I was doing? How I was feeling and what kind of challenges I was facing. Being on Jenny Craig does mean taking care of me and making my needs a priority too.

After a great meeting with Denise, telling her about my favorite foods, my likes and loves and how much I am enjoying the plan it was time to weigh in. I had lost another 3.2 pounds.
