Switchers Remorse Has it Happened to You?

Switchers Remorse Mom’s Lifesavers
Has this ever happened to you? Did you ever have switchers remorse?
You plan on doing something and then you don’t end up going and regret it?
Have you ever switched brands and felt let down when it didn’t live up to the promises made?
I was looking for a change, something better and different than what I already had – I’m talking about a haircut.
A Life of Haircuts
For as long as I could remember, my childhood hair cut was the ‘Dorothy Hamill’ and when I got to high school it was the ‘big hair’ era and I had my hair permed like nobody’s business. After college, a friend at work recommended that it was time for a REAL haircut (no longer letting the beauty school trainees cut it for free in the hallway). She gave me the name of her stylist and set up an appointment for me.
The Best Haircut Ever
I received the best treatment ever at the salon and my hair had never felt or looked so good. I went there religiously for years, the service was always good and my hair the best it had ever been. I got comfortable, prices went up, appointments were harder to get and I started to think that the grass might just be greener on the other side – I started looking for a new hair salon.
A New Look
After a little research (very little), some cool looking salon decor and a great magazine display, I tried a new salon and stylist. Oh, I got a deal all right.
The appointment was easy to get, the cut looked good (or so I thought), I tipped generously and headed out to show off my new cut. I never realized the eyes that were looking at me were NOT admiring the new cut, but just how bad the new cut was. Note: the stylist never showed me the back of my hair! Never had that ‘back of your hair reveal you anticipate at the end of styling – I should have known something was terribly wrong!
The Reveal
I walked into our apartment and showed off my new cut, feeling so proud of all the money I saved. My roommate said, “Turn around, let’s see the back”, followed by a gasp, and not a little gasp, but a “Who did this to you?” gasp!
The back of my hair was off by over 4 inches and not at an angle (I figured I could have cocked my head sideways and played it off like it was a new trend) – there was literally a ‘V’ cut into the back of my hair.
What did I do? I cried.
It was so bad my roommate brought me to her stylist to have it fixed.
#SwitchersRemorse – Lesson Learned!
That haircut was so humiliating for me. I was devastated to go back to my original stylist but I did. It was worth it. I learned my lesson, honestly the grass was definitely not greener on the other side. To this day I bet that my stylist and my good friend at work had a good chuckle over me AND my haircut.
