LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston
As part of our school vacation week and our ‘staycation’ here in New England, we headed into the city for an afternoon trip to LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston in Somerville.
Christine and I have been to LEGOLAND Discovery Center several times, from the ground breaking to the grand opening, but this was the very first time we got to see LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston with our kids and what a great visit it was.
We planned our trip in the afternoon. Our kids are 13, 9 and 8 and since my husband wanted to go after work, we headed in late afternoon and arrived around 4.
We parked in the lot at Assembly Row, there is also garage parking available – the lot was clear and free of snow and the sidewalks were clear and sanded, it was very easy to navigate our way to the entrance and Tessie, the LDC giraffe. We were greeted by smiles and friendly staff members. There were no lines and no waiting – it was the perfect time to be there.
After getting our tickets (we advise that you order tickets in advance online, especially if you are planning an earlier morning, weekend or school vacation visit) we had our family picture taken and headed straight for the elevators to start our LEGOLAND Discovery Center experience.
Once the doors opened from the elevator the kids were ready to go and my husband and I were right there with them – for the building, the rides and the fun.
Within minutes, the kids had shed their jackets and I was acting as a walking coat rack when a staff member mentioned that they offered lockers to store jackets, oh, and they are FREE. Having a safe place to stow the coats so I could enjoy the afternoon too, was this Mom’s Lifesaver.
The girls were experiencing it all from karaoke, Merlin’s Apprentice, building and the 4D theater – they loved it. The oldest headed right for the Master Building Academy and before long was hard at work building. After a short snack break to refuel, the kids headed over to the LEGO Build and Test Racers area where he even challenged dad to a car race.
I took a short video to show you the area around 5 PM so you could get a sense of the space at that time of day.
We wrapped up our visit with the 4D movie, Spellbreaker – we all enjoyed our 4D experience – a must see.
On our way out we went through the store – there is a lot to see and choose from – be sure to set an expectation with your family about spending before you head to the exit.
We hope you have a wonderful school vacation week and enjoy your trip to LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston.
