First Impressions of Jenny Craig
Honestly, this is one of the hardest posts to write, but currently one of the most important in my nearly 10 years of blogging. And I’m truly doing this for myself and that ONE reader that may benefit from my weight loss journey.
So here it goes…
My name is Christine and I haven’t taken care of myself in YEARS! And I’m joining Jenny Craig! I know, you’re in shock! I’ve hid this well, but I honestly have NOT put myself in the top 5 most important things to care for. My family, home and pets have come first. It’s sad, but true.
Yes, I have shared so many good ideas with all of my readers, but have I ‘walked the walked’ all of the time? ABSOLUTELY, NOT!
I live a very busy, family focused life and that has taken it’s toll on me in regards to my weight. I have spend several years, picking at food ALL DAY LONG between work, activities, driving and general life. And not liking the food I was eating and my choices, at all.
I knew I needed to make a change, and I needed HELP.
In comes Jenny Craig
My first personal consultation at Jenny Craig had tears, but more smiles and relief than anything.
I was greeted and welcomed to the Salem, NH office by Monica. The office is so welcoming and I immediately felt comfortable to jump into my first meeting.
We sat down and had a chat – and it was all about me! It’s been a long time since someone asked how I was doing! We chatted about lots of things other than weight loss, and it was truly about getting to know me. The conversation was so gentle, caring and FUN!
Then the moment of truth – I was weighed.
I stood on the scale and noticed I was the weight I was with my first born when I was READY to DELIVER her in 2000. Then it hit me.
WHY, Christine? Why did we let this happen?
And that was gibberish talk in the eyes of Monica. She was so encouraging not to be in that moment. Quickly she asked me a very important question. When did I feel the best, and at what weight? I quickly answered that I honestly think it was when I could wear cute jeans WITH a belt and my shirt tucked in. I was a few years into my marriage and that was 30 pounds ago!
How do we GET to THAT Christine again?
I’ve lived by the mantra, “NO LIST – NO PLAN” much of my adult life, and when Monica showed me the full on list of my food and the first week plan with Jenny Craig, I planted my face in my palms and I cried.
It’s THIS EASY? Everything is taken care of FOR ME. You have the whole week taken care of for me in food? NO WAY! I quickly dried my tears and pulled myself up and thanked Monica from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful PLAN!
My Current Plan on Jenny Craig
So, I’m on a 1200 a day calorie intake. I’m shocked that I have so much food in my day and it’s so delicious and inspiring. I will be going through an 8 week program. A few things I just have to keep in mind:
- Concentrate on the FOOD plan FIRST.
- No time to get upset, NOW is the time to take action!
- Half way to goal weight, I will be taken off the meal plan and I can start preparing my own food!
- Learn how to EAT!
- Add some exercise when I can.
- Schedule an appointment weekly to keep track of my progress and pick up my weekly meals.
So at this point, all the heavy lifting is done for ME. I just have to follow my very special plan. And it couldn’t be easier! I will be detailing my entire journey with you as I progress. So far, so good! And I highly recommend the program already!
About the Jenny Craig Program – Members eat 6 times a day (3 main meals with 3 snacks) and follow personally-customized programs, including nearly 100 delicious menu items, personalized menus/activity and motivational plans. Members can still eat their favorite foods, there is no need to eliminate any food groups. No counting, tracking or worrying.
