Travel to Maine on the Amtrak Downeaster
Bonnie and I were thrilled to be invited by Amtrak to try out their Train to Maine Downeaster Experience! We have NEVER taken the train to Maine before, Bonnie told me that she had never taken the train out of Massachusetts, so this was going to be a whole new experience for her. We were super excited to try out the Downeaster to Portland, Maine. The Downeaster starts in Boston and ends up all the way up in Brunswick, Maine. Both Bonnie and I adore Portland and couldn’t believe the train has a large transportation center there. We started our journey in Haverhill, Mass and parked easily in their parking lot. We paid for our spot via cellphone – so easy and convenient. All directions to reserve your spot are at the train station and no need to carry cash to pay for your spot.
First off, we have no idea why we have never used this train before! The convenience of it is AMAZING. To sit back and take in a Bruins or Celtics game at the Fleet Center or a day of shopping in Freeport, all in comfort and no stress!
Bonnie and I loved the comfy seats, the WIFI and Cafe! We had so much fun meeting our conductors Brian Labreck and Peter McHugh. These guys made the trip truly memorable! There is something awesome about loving your job and doing it right, and these wonderful folks truly make the Downeaster a fantastic way to see Maine!
