Monkey Mat Review – A Mom’s Lifesaver

Our Monkey Mat review: it is what every active family needs. Dare I say you need one for each car? We do in our home. We are one the go. Weekdays, after school, field trips, weekends, we bring our Monkey Mat with us everywhere. Monkey Mat is not just a blanket or ground cover, it is so much more.

Mom’s Lifesavers was provided with a Monkey Mat to facilitate this review, all opinions expressed are our own.

Our favorite feature is, wait how can we pick just one? For starters, it takes up less space than even a beach towel and comes in it’s own attached ‘stuff sack’ with carrying handle. I love that I can stick it under a seat in the car and easily grab it whenever we need it.

How Big is a Monkey Mat?

Monkey Mat is 5 feet x 5 feet square and easily seats 4 people or 2 comfortably lounging. Monkey Mat has a waterproof base so it keeps ‘bottoms’ dry on wet surfaces like grass, making it ideal for outdoor activities. Another great feature are the loops that are attached to the center of the mat. Toys, keys or other items can easily be attached to the mat. The corners of Monkey Mat are weighted and have loops that can be grounded with stakes, keeping the mat from moving and allowing you to claim your space.

Where Can Monkey Mat Go?

Monkey Mat can go where ever you do. We even used it at a park as a table cover. The public picnic table looked more like a science experiment so we used our Monkey Mat as a nice clean surface for our lunch. Afterwards, we simply folded up the Monkey Mat and I brought it home and threw it in the washing machine.

A desperate desire arose for either a constant shower of sanitizer…or a portable, clean surface I could take EVERYwhere.

Not a bulky blanket (who has room?), or something I had to plan for in advance to have with me (I am just NOT that organized!!).

I mentioned my frustration to my dear friend and now business partner, Courtney, and though she didn’t even have kids at the time, she wanted such a solution for her active lifestyle… Outdoor concerts. Wine tastings. Camping. Hiking. The desired uses were endless.

We searched for a portable, clean surface to meet our needs, and when (shockingly!) nothing existed, we decided to create it.

The brainstorming and prototyping began…hot glue guns and staplers galore…and so the Monkey Mat ® was born!
