Host a Family Movie Awards Party
It’s award season and we’re rolling out the red carpet for a family friendly movie awards party that you can host at home. 2014 was packed with family friendly films and we’ve compiled a ballot perfect for you and the kids to pick your own award winners. Add some sweet treats and a few props and you’ll have party that will be the talk of the red carpet.
This post is brought to you in partnership with #FandangoFamily. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
Set the Scene
We purchased an inexpensive plastic backdrop – complete with red carpet and paparazzi – say cheese. This backdrop is great for taking snapshots, selfies and award winning pictures of your guests.
Vote for Your Favorites
We up-cycled an old gold gift box into a ballot box and printed out Mom’s Lifesavers Family Movie Awards ballot for all of our guests, featuring family friendly movies of 2014.
Who will you pick?
We tallied the votes and announced the winners on some paper popcorn cutouts. Download the ballot here.
Our top family picks were The LEGO Movie, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Annie. Check out all the latest family movies on Fandango.
Sweet Treats & Popcorn
Cookies – We found these great candy cookie molds featuring filmstrips and movie cameras on Amazon. These candy covered sandwich cookies were easy and fun to make. We even wrapped them in gold foil for our star studded event.
Candy – Another easy treat your guests will enjoy are Red Carpet Ropes – you might know them as Red Vines or Twizzlers. These are a movie theater ‘go to’ in our home and a must for a movie night. Place some in a glass vase and add a little sign – aren’t they cute?
Popcorn – Get that popcorn popping. Make lots of of it and fill paper popcorn bags for your guests to enjoy.
Game – Don’t forget the Movie Trivia Game. Leave some cards out for your guests to test their own movie knowledge against one another. We have Movies Trivia Game by Outset – perfect for ages 12 and up.
Swag Bags
It wouldn’t be a Hollywood celebration without a swag bag for your stars to take home. We included star shaped glasses, mini-cameras, candy and some film strip photo magnets for our guests. A night to remember for sure.
