Super League Gaming – We loved it!
That’s right, we charged the laptop batteries and headed to our local movie theater to play Minecraft – how cool does that sound?
Super League Gaming offers an in theater gaming experience – played out on a movie theater screen. We attended as part of the Super League Gaming Summer Tour at the Liberty Tree 20 in Danvers, Massachusetts. Tickets are available online at Super League Gaming. They even have a Fall league starting.
Super League Gaming What is It?
Gamers come to play Minecraft in a movie theater on the big screen – how cool is that? Gamers will need to bring their fully charged laptop with them for the 100 minute session. Parents can watch their gamers at no additional fee.
There will even be prizes awarded for top scorers within the session.

The Players
The players that attended ranged in ages. I would have to say mostly elementary and middle school ages but there were several parents that played as well. Our kids were 9, 13 and 14 – they gave the experience and 8+ (out of 10) – not a bad grade considering there were no amusement rides (LOL).
Here are some of the things that they loved about it:
- “It is in a theater – bigger than any computer screen or television – very cool”
- “I like the bracelet as my ticket and the free stickers and tattoos”
- Snacks – “there’s no eating in our bedrooms but we could have lots of popcorn while playing” at Super League Gaming
- “When I needed help, I just raised my hand and there was someone to help me – it was like having my own techie troubleshooter”
- “I got to make and meet new friends in person – so much cooler than just online – I hope I get to do this again”
Here’s what this Mom learned:
- The staffers were super friendly and encouraging to the young builders
- Super League Gaming has a good size stash of back up laptops in case there are any technical troubles with your own – along with extension cords. For help, just raise your hand.
- There is an effort to make it more than just a game. The session we attended was designed around dinosaur knowledge and building (via Minecraft) a dinosaur as part of a team build. Throughout the building period fun dinosaur related facts are shared.
- No weapons of mass destruction – no lava, tnt, flint or steel is allowed in building. The objective is to build, not destroy. If you choose not to play respectfully there is a chance you will be spoken to by a Super League Gaming staffer or even asked to leave the game.
- There is no filter on the chat room that is used during game play. During our session the language used by all players was appropriate, but make certain your players know that whatever they type into the chat room can be seen by everyone in the room.
- No custom skins – that’s right, to make certain that everyone is ‘dressed’ appropriately, a generic skin is assigned to each player
On a final note. If you have a gamer in your life and want to give them a larger than life gaming experience, I would recommend that you take them to experience Super League Gaming.
