Paparazzi Paninis
A Perfect Fingerfood for Award Season Parties and Celebrations
It has been a cold snowy winter here in New England but we’re warming up with food preparations for Award season.
Planning an Oscar party? We are and, we’re bringing the taste of the Islands with us. We’re using King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls for our Mom’s Lifesavers Paparazzi Paninis.
These sweet rolls have long been a family favorite in our home. My mom introduced them to me years ago and they have been a part of our family meals for years.
Finger foods are always great for entertaining and your guests will love these sweet panini sandwiches cut into bite-size pieces.
Think Outside the Box
We decided to think outside the box and cut the rolls length wise and use them as slices. They made for a great sandwich size that could then be cut into 3 squares and/or 6 triangles.
Recipe
As on the go moms, we love shortcuts that make sense and save time, and cooking is no exception. With just a few ingredients our paparazzi paninis come together quickly and will please even the toughest critics.
- King’s Hawaiian rolls (1 bag)
- Black forest ham or ham sliced from the deli
- Colby jack pre-sliced cheese
- Vidalia onion – 1 large
- Butter 1Tbsp
- Cooking spray
Steps
- Slice the onion into rings and saute in 1 tablespoon of butter until slightly brown and caramelized. Set aside.
- Open the bag of rolls and fold down the cardboard, flat. Using a serrated knife, cut the rolls into long slices, three rolls in length.
- Using a heated panini press, griddle or pan, place a slice of King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls slice into the pan.
- Layer ham slices, cheese and caramelized onions then top with buttered slice of roll and press sandwich and/or grill until cheese is melted and rolls are golden brown
- Remove sandwich from cooking surface and slice into thirds and then halves to create 6 finger sandwich size Paparazzi Paninis and enjoy!
Listen to them Sizzle
We used an indoor ‘grill’ press to make our Paparazzi Paninis – you can use a griddle or pan too – just like you were making a grilled cheese sandwich.
