Pumpkin Hair Clip – Easy Craft!
Turns An Artificial Flower Into A Jack-O-Lantern Hair Accessory
We’re always looking for a fun and seasonal craft to make for our daughter’s hair and Halloween is no exception. With an orange bloom from an artificial floral bouquet from Dollar Tree and a few craft supplies we were able to transform a flower blossom into a smiling jack-o-lantern hair accessory: a Pumpkin Hair Clip.
You can too! Here’s the how to:
Pumpkin Hair Clip Supplies
- Orange colored artificial flowers ( our bunch came from DollarTree)
- Black glitter craft foam (ours has a peel away sticky back – got it at A.C. Moore)
- Scissors
- Glue sticks, glue gun
- Hair clips, hair elastic or headband
- Ribbon if you want to add a bow or ‘stem’
Draw out a jack-o-lantern face onto the back of the glitter foam – we used a permanent marker – and cut out the pieces.
Need some inspiration? Here are a few more faces for you:
Using the glue gun, glue the flower petals together, next remove the adhesive from the back of the ‘face’ pieces and add them to the flower.
Next pull the flower apart – you will not need any ‘center’ pieces but the green ‘back’ may come in handy.
TIP – Save some of the leaves too – those make a nice added touch too!
Decide which item to mount the flower to – here are 3 examples:
- If you are using an elastic – add it to the back of the flower assembly using hot glue, next, trim back the green backing piece of the flow and use it to cover the hot glue and as an added way of securing the elastic to the flower.
- Headband – using hot glue attach the flower to the headband and then using the trimmed green backing piece, add it to cover the hot glue
- Hair Clip – use hot glue to add the hair clip to the back of the flower, then using a spare leaf from the flower bunch, add a leaf to cover the glue and the metal clip that was secured to the flower
