Original Quiche Recipe
This recipe originally posted in 2013 and we absolutely love this recipe and decided to bring it back! It’s the perfect time of year for this. ENJOY!
This is a “go to’ family favorite – especially for those nights when everyone is coming and going with after school activities.
Keep these ingredients on hand and you can put this together in a matter of minutes.
Ingredients:
– ready to bake pie crust (we used the rolled, refrigerated variety)
– 4 eggs OR 1 cup of egg beaters
– 2 cups of heavy cream OR light cream
– 1 1/2 cups of shredded Swiss cheese (6oz bag)
– 1 Tablespoon of dried chopped onion OR 1/3 cup chopped fresh onion
– 1/4 tsp of pepper (TIP– if you like to kick it up, add a pinch of ground red pepper)
– Meat(s) of your choice – we used: 1 packet of cooked real bacon pieces (TIP – we found ours in the supermarket near the pepperoni) 4 slices of ham from the deli cut into pieces
What to do:
Step 1 – Preheat oven to 425F. Place pie crust in the bottom of a quiche or pie pan.
Step 2 – Place cheese, onion, bacon and ham in pie crust – toss to mix
Step 3 – Mix in a separate bowl eggs, cream and pepper to taste
Step 4 – Pour egg mixture over meat and cheese mixture in crust
Step 5 – Cook for 15 minutes at 425F then drop the oven temperature to 300F and allow the quiche to cook for an additional 30 minutes
TIP – Is it done? Insert a knife into the center, if it comes out clean it is done!
Step 6 – Allow to cool for approximately 15 minutes before serving
TIP – This quiche is PERFECT to make a day or so before Thanksgiving – great reheated for breakfast on a day when the kitchen is sure to be busy!
